Why Christianity? My Testimony

I have good news and bad news.

The good news is, I’ve decided to re-write this account and make it much better than it was.

The bad news is, it’s not here right now and you’ll have to wait in order to read it. Sorry.

Hope you enjoy it when it comes back.

Hi, (Bridget (Junia) I used to post in ZLMB (coolrok7)where I first read your posts and used to follow along with your comments..

I returned there tonight as I was just banned from Mormon apologetics and discussion board (twice in a matter of two weeks).

I came back to ZLMB to see if anyone was posting there (its not relly active anymore (the occasional old member). Just thought I’d drop a comment and say hi again.

I read your blog (about your past struggles) and decided to drop a line to you.

    God Bless you!

    Hey coolrok/Roy,

Well, I hope you don’t take being dismissed from MADB too hard. I quit posting there a few weeks ago and I don’t think I’m ever going back. I’m so bored with Mormon apologists.

ZLMB is pretty dead. MormonDiscussions.com populated mostly by skeptics, CARM the cess pool it always has been.

My new home is TheologyWeb. The discussions in the LDS section aren’t as deep and scholarly as what we once had at ZLMB, but people there are good-natured and honest, and besides, I was dying to post alongside some other evangelicals for a change.

Thanks for dropping by and good luck with whatever you do next.

    Jack,

I never knew this. I didn’t know about your family and religious experiences in high school. I wish I’d taken the time to get to know more about your life when we lived together. I will say this: I already knew it, but I know even more now that you are a strong, faithful and impressive person. We both love you and miss you deeply!

    XOXO

Thanks Alisha. Truth be told, I have very rarely ever given all the details of this story to anyone in person. I don’t think I told anyone during my time at BYU, I don’t know if I would have no matter how much time we spent together. It’s just so hard to talk about in person. Took me months to even write about it here.

I miss you guys, too. Thanks for reading.

    Dear Jack,

My humblest apologies for thinking you were lds. I have many lds friends and lived in a small predominantly mormon town while in high school.

I don’t know how I just got into your blog and started writing without first checking everything out–I really am sorry and hope you will accept my apology.

Hi, jack. Wow. You have been thru a lot girl.. a lot… praise God for what he is doing and has done in your life. You have great courage to have chosen an interfaith marriage. My husband and I of course both started off LDS, but 1 1/2 yr ago that changed, and so did our marriage. It has been hard, really hard… but God is working and he’s healing our hearts. So, I know now what it’s like to have an interfaith marriage — it has been good for me to learn that we’re not all alike, what I see as ‘white’ may be black to my husband and vice versa. I have learned to become much more tolerant a person, then when I was LDS .
I’m glad I stopped by and read your testimony.
God bless you jack and your lovely family,

Thanks for stopping by, Gloria. I have read some of the posts on your blog (though I haven’t left a comment yet) and I know you’ve been through a lot, too.

I doubt we’ll see eye to eye on everything, but I do applaud you and Jessica for always being so nice to everybody. I don’t know how you guys do it. More than an hour of being polite to everyone around me and I start feeling like a Stepford Wife.

Well, believe it or not, that’s a compliment in my own twisted way. Thanks for stopping by. :)

I read most of your comments about mormons your church your biography, your testimony, but I never heard you talk/mention any particular Bible verses
I believe as a true Christian , it is logical to believe Jesus is the one that would reveal the Father to us Matt 11:27; Luk 10:22 other wise the Bible is of no value
I also noticed that you said..” I read about the official First vision…: but no follow up.

Dan ~ I read most of your comments about mormons your church your biography, your testimony, but I never heard you talk/mention any particular Bible verses

And your point is? Are you wondering whether or not I have favorite Bible verses? Jeremiah 29:11-13 is an old favorite, and you can see that I made mention of it when I actually got up and gave my testimony to Mormons at their sacrament meeting here.

I also noticed that you said..” I read about the official First vision…: but no follow up.

Again, your point is lost on me. What sort of follow-up were you expecting?

You know, one of the reasons I posted a testimony at all is because, in October of last year, when I did my first post lambasting the counter-cult ministry, Todd Wood asked if I’d posted my Christian testimony anywhere. It kind of made me feel like I wasn’t being a good Christian blogger because I didn’t have a testimony posted to my blog, so eventually I corrected that.

Now it’s, “You have a testimony, sure, but you don’t quote any scripture in it!” Well hot damn, is there a checklist somewhere of “how to write a proper Christian testimony and be a good Christian blogger and firmly establish your Christian creds” so that I can be sure I do everything on it and people will quit finding fault with my site?

Nah. I’m pretty sure that if I peppered my site with Scripture references, people would find something else to complain about.

As far as I’m concerned, you could give something as simple as the Apostles’ Creed and have done. People should be responsible for their own Bible study, after all.
